The 20-year old studies at Berkeley in California but reports say he has agreed to a pro football deal with Hertha Berlin.

Jonathan Klinsmann featured in every minute at the recent FIFA Under-20 World Cup as the Stars and Stripes team reached the last eight at the age grade event. He was pictured with Pal Dardai’s side for pre-season training with reports claiming the club reached out to the older Klinsmann after his World Cup appearance.

Jonathan is impressed to be in the second team of the club. He has had trials at Premier League sides West Ham and Everton and even at Stuttgart – where he father once played. He deems it a fantastic chance to play in a Bundesliga, getting very close to the action while developing as a keeper.

“It’s a completely different level to the USA. I arrived in Berlin a couple of days early to acclimatise. I trained with Ilja [Hofstadt, Hertha youth keepers coach]. He helped a lot and gave me a lot of tips for training with the senior team,” Jonathan said. (more…)

SHERINGHAM: TOTTENHAM ALMOST GOT MARADONA

Premier League legend Teddy Sheringham has disclosed that Tottenham Hotspurs almost signed South American football legend Diego Maradona in the 1990s.

Argentinean Ossie Ardiles was the manager of Spurs. He wanted to lure his compatriot to join the team at White Hart Lane but then he decided to make a move on Germany football star Jurgen Klinsmann.

It is unknown if Ardiles regretted his decision as he was fired in 1993 as big transfer signings like the German and others failed to live up to expectations. He was a legend as a player but that was not enough to keep him on.

Sheringham revealed that he got on “really well” with the then coach as he was the skipper at the time. He said the coach asked for his opinion to sign Maradona. He said he encouraged him to as he was ecstatic to play with him. (more…)

USMNT HOST SERBIA IN ARENA’S FIRST MATCH

The United State men’s national team will take on Serbia in Bruce Arena’s first match since replacing Jurgen Klinsmann as manager.

The friendly, which comes on a non-FIFA date, will take place January 29 at 4 p.m. ET at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, and it will be the first of two friendlies that concludes the national team’s annual January training camp. The second friendly has not yet been announced. Given the timing, the U.S. will be made up largely of an MLS-based contingent, with European-based players on club duty not required to be released.

As a result, Serbia won’t have its full complement of players, either, much like Iceland did not during its friendly against the USA at the start of 2016. Serbia is currently in second place in Group D of UEFA World Cup qualifying with a 2-0-2 record. The US and Serbia have never before played, though the US did face off with Yugoslavia – which is recognized by FIFA and UEFA as the predecessor to the Serbian national team – twice, including at the 1998 World Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann Praises Appointment of Bob Bradley at Swansea

Jurgen Klinsmann says that it is a fantastic decision by Swansea to appoint former United States national team manager Bob Bradley as their new boss.

The Premier League outfit are owned by Americans and it is not a surprise that they have gone for Bradley. Even though the American has little experience of managing clubs outside the MLS, many have vouched for the 58-year-old who has been in charge of clubs like Chicago Fire, Chivas USA, and the Egyptian national team. Bradley will have to make an impact straight away, as Swansea are 17th in the table and already looking like relegation contenders.

The club sacked manager Francesco Guidolin after repeated attempts to improve the club’s form resulted in a failure. Klinsmann knows a thing or two about the Premier League from his time at Tottenham as a striker. In the past, Klinsmann has also been linked with the vacant managerial jobs but he seems to be content with continuing as the US national team boss for the time being. (more…)

Jurgen Klinsmann Hopes for Swift Clint Dempsey Return

US national team feared the worst when one of the star assets – Clint Dempsey – was diagnosed with irregular heartbeat.

It has forced him to miss the national team’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. However, the latest news is that he will not be on the sidelines for a long and manager Jurgen Klinsmann is pleased to hear the news. Even at 33 years of age, Dempsey is one of the important players for the national team. As someone who has represented the likes of Fulham and Tottenham in the English Premier league, he is extremely experienced at handling big games.

The attacking midfielder has made 130 appearances for the national team and scored 52 goals in the process. He will be undergoing medical evaluations over the course of the next few weeks. The first concern began when Dempsey missed the game for Seattle Sounders against Portland Timbers. The match finished as yet another defeat for Seattle Sounders, who have been very poor this season. The US will be involved in two important games against St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. Even though these are World Cup 2018 qualifiers, the US are confident that they can perform and get victories even without their star man in the team.

Jurgen Klinsmann might be managing Everton next season

There are rumors that the current United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann might be managing Everton next season.

With Klinsmann becoming under increasing pressure in the States and with fans getting frustrated with Martinez, then a move for the German manager might be possible.

Klinsmann has come under pressure during recent times with the United States finishing fourth in the Gold Cup. They only managed to beat lowly Haiti and Honduras and experienced humiliating defeat at the hands of Jamaica and Panama. Fans were not too pleased with the way their team was playing and have called for the German manager to be replaced especially with the Copa America coming.

Roberto Martinez has also had his share of critics this season with fans regularly protesting against him. Everton, who have always finished in the top half of the table under David Moyes, are now a mid-table team without any hope of making it to Europe. Their only chances of success this season were in the FA Cup, but Manchester United beat them. There are even reports that the players themselves have lost faith in Martinez and will want him to be replaced next season. (more…)

Jason Kreis found a new managerial role alongside Klinsmann

Jason Kreis is a 43 year old former manager and player who became unemployed a few months ago when he parted ways with his latest club New York City FC. Now that Kreis has more free time at his disposal, he took the chance to meet up with the coach of the U.S national team JurgenKlinsmann.

Klinsmann is currently working with a group of players that he previously selected to go with him for the annual January camp which is traditionally held in Southern California. Kreis took the chance to meet up with JurgenKlinsmann and see how things are going with the U.S national team but the German manager put Jason Kreis to work and there might a possibility of Kreis becoming an assistant to Klinsmann depending if whether or not they are able to work well together and collect positive results.

JurgenKlinsmann continues to struggle with his national side

July 22nd is not a date worth remembering for the United States national side and all of their fans as this was the day when the U.S team lost against Jamaica in the semifinals of the 2015 Gold Cup.

Losing against Jamaica was a huge surprise as the American outfit was one of the favorites of making it into the finals and actually winning the entire tournament but ultimately lost 1-2 against Jamaica.

This defeat is a huge blow for JurgenKlinsmann and the national team in itself but mostly for the German coach as the pressure is really beginning to build up. Bob Bradley is the previous manager of the United States national side and JurgenKlinsmann was the manager who replaced Bradley, when the German coach was selected as the new coach, this created a wave of optimism as he promised to turn the American national side into an energetic and youthful team that could compete against some of the best teams in the world.

These promises haven’t been fulfilled as the results have not been up to par with what has been expected and assured. There are a number of problems that the team of JurgenKlinsmann has been displaying and the German manager is the man that fans are putting the blame on.

One of these problems is in relation to the defensive department of the American national side which has John Brooks and Ventura Alvarado at the heart of it but this combination of defenders has been disappointing.

Matt Besler and Omar Gonzalez are playing outstanding in the Major League Soccer but JurgenKlinsmann has constantly been overlooking players in the MLS as he prefers to give the chance for those who are performing in Europe but this needs to change in order to allow other players the chance to step it up on the big stage.
